Regina B. Scott, Mother, Minister, Producer, Director, CEO and Survivor.
My story begins back in 1996 with my first ministry, Youth on The Move for Christ Ministries Inc., which later became a 501(c)3. The ministry was cultivated to help the youth and young adults in my neighborhood gain a relationship with Christ and build their self-confidence and self worth. I could see that the direction of many of those children wanted more however, the influence of their surroundings kept any dreams and desires a mere fantasy. Through this ministry, my own children discovered and developed gifts and talents in the areas of music, acting and modeling. This is where God begin to show me a greater vision for my life and what the focus of the ministry would entail.
A few years later, I stepped out on faith after working as a manager for two of my daughters and my son for about 20 years. With less than a year of stage production experience, Stardom Productions Inc. was born November 2008. The focus and mission of the company is to assist in the development of those that dream of reaching their highest plateau in the entertainment industry, performing in the arts and to bring back wholesome entertainment to the forefront of the industry. My daughter Chimere singer/ songwriter/ actress, who has done extensive work throughout Atlanta; landed the leading role in a stage play written by Robert Beasley titled ‘The Lawd Done Sent Me A Man’ in 2007. As Chimere’s manager I asked Mr. Beasley was there anything I could do to assist in the production. He offered the position of stage manager to me however, I had not worked in this position prior to this production. My skills as a manager for over 20 years gave me the insight and know how of performing this position, so I said yes. Within a short period of time under the direction of the Director I became extremely proficient as a Stage Manager. After the preview showing of the play the director resigned and I was offered to take on the role as the Director. I absolutely loved the story line it was as if God had give Mr. Beasley part of my life story. Do to Chimere's singing career the play was pulled out of production for eight months. In the summer of 2008, God began to talk to me about bringing the play back out, after much prayer I obeyed God and started Stardom Productions Inc. and began casting for the play in December 2008. In the midst of castings and rehearsals, God truly gave us favor as we operated on only seeds of faith to see this production happen. I must say God hand picked my cast and crew, they were great! Since the time we begin the company to this day there have been no major sponsors, investors or bank loans that have carried neither the production cost nor the cost of the staff to operate this company. We have solely funded over 30 shows between February 2009-2010 through-out the southeast region based on ticket sales and merchandising.
Just as the play was taking off after a successful viewing in February 2009 and several other showings, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in May 2009. I was ordered by my doctors to undergo surgery which took place July 7, 2009 and after that a series of Chemo & Radiation treatments. God said to me before and after the diagnosis, I am healing your body, as there is more work for you to do in this world. Through those next months of good days and not so good days, I kept the faith. I stayed strong and prayerful while conducting day-to-day business operations and the stage play from my sick bed. Within the first week of being released from the surgery I was on the set of the production directing the play for our next show. I was determined I would not fail and I was ready to fight. At the end of my treatments in May of 2010, I could say I am 100% cancer free, as I was sure that God had healed me. During this time of illness, God was yet elevating the company and in addition to the ministry, production company and the play, the vision for Stardom School of the Performing Arts was birthed. With the desire to do as much as I could to bring forth this vision I pulled together all of the resources I had to start the process of opening up a school. At this current time, we are still seeking a permanent facility and funding to cover its operational cost. Just as things begin to move forward and the business began to elevate, my body had another health set back. In July of 2010, I was diagnosed with Fibroid tumors and was again directed by my doctor to undergo surgery for a full hysterectomy. Under doctors orders I was told I would have to be down for at least 6 weeks, so there again I found myself going through yet another test of my faith. Today I stand whole, healthy and healed.
While life never goes as planned, I continue to keep focusing on God who is the head of my life, the company’s vision and goals. I thank God for my children who have helped me through all the circumstances I have been through. It would have been easy to give up due to the pain and suffering of various illnesses, lack of money and even the lack of support; yet I still believe in the vision that God gave me, that the desires of my heart will come to pass for the entire world to see, how God helped me survive. One day I will publish my story and maybe it will become a play or even a movie, who knows God is not through with me yet and is still in charge!
